FAQ

Questions about DigiZman zmanim boards

How the board works, how you keep it up to date, and how to get one for your shul or school.

Updating your board

  • How do we update our zmanim and minyan times?

Sign in to the DigiZman Control Panel from a computer or phone, wherever you are. Every field you can change is listed for the week you pick: edit as many as you need, then save them all at once. Your board and DigiZman Mobile pick up the new times, with no ladder and no printed sheets.

  • Can I change a time for just one day?

Yes. Switch from week to day and your change applies only to that date, such as an early Mincha before a chasunah. Weekly changes cover Sunday through Shabbos.

  • Do we have to re-enter everything every week?

No. Copy last week's zmanim fills in every field you haven't changed this week with last week's value, and shows you the list before it saves. Fields that change every week, like a sponsor, can be set never to carry over. Times tied to a zman update on their own.

  • Can we load a whole season at once?

Yes. Upload a spreadsheet (CSV) of times for as many dates as you like. If your shul's calendar runs on ShulCloud, DigiZman can also import your zmanim from it, on demand or automatically every day.

  • Can I update the board with an AI assistant like Claude?

Yes. Connect DigiZman to Claude and sign in with your Control Panel account. Upload a PDF of your printed schedule or just describe the change, and it fills in the times. It shows you exactly what will change before it saves, and it can only edit the shuls you manage.

  • Can more than one person manage our board?

Yes. Each gabbai or administrator gets their own sign-in and sees only the shuls they manage, and one person can manage several shuls from the same account. Ask us to add someone.

Zmanim and what the board shows

  • How are the zmanim calculated?

Every zman is calculated for your shul's exact location and time zone. Choose the opinions you follow: alos and misheyakir at several degrees, sof zman Shema and tefillah by the Gra or Magen Avraham, chatzos, mincha gedolah and ketanah, plag, shkiah, candle lighting and tzeis.

  • Can a minyan move with the zmanim?

Yes. Tie a minyan to any zman, add or subtract minutes, and round to the nearest five minutes. For example, Mincha 18 minutes before shkiah, rounded down, moves through the seasons with no one touching it.

  • What does the board show without anyone typing it in?

The Hebrew date, the parsha, Daf Yomi, Amud Yomi and Mishna Yomi, the molad, Shabbos Mevarchim, Rosh Chodesh and the sefiras ha'omer count, in English or Hebrew. It also shows tefillah reminders such as Ya'aleh V'yavo, Al Hanisim, V'sein tal u'matar and Mashiv haruach, following your nusach.

  • Can the board show dedications and yahrtzeits?

Yes. Your board can carry the day's dedication (who sponsored it, and in whose honor or memory, in English and Hebrew), a title for a special day, and a yahrtzeit list your gabbai keeps up to date. A field can hold several messages that take turns every seven seconds.

  • Does the board change for Yom Tov?

Yes. Yom Tov, Rosh Chodesh and special Shabbosos are titled on the board automatically, and your board can have its own Yom Tov layout that you switch on from the Control Panel.

  • Who sets up our schedule?

We do. Tell us your zmanim requirements and we build continuous weekly schedules for you, with unlimited minyanim, shiurim and daily zmanim. After that, you change whatever you need.

Event Zone, sponsors and print

  • What is the Event Zone?

The Event Zone is the part of the board that cycles through announcements: the shul dinner, a simcha, a reminder to silence phones. Upload a photo from the Control Panel, send one from your phone, or edit one of our templates right in your browser.

  • How do sponsors work?

Local businesses sponsor the zmanim, give back to their community and are thanked on the board in full HD. It is a way for your shul's neighbors to reach the people who walk in every day.

  • Can we print the schedule for our newsletter?

Yes. The Control Panel makes a PDF of your zmanim and minyanim for as many weeks as you choose, with your shul's logo at the top, ready for the newsletter or the shul's bulletin board.

The board

  • What will our board look like?

Choose a layout: Heritage, the classic wood board; Night, a modern high-contrast look that reads well from the back of the shul; or Schedules, with the week's minyanim and shiurim next to the day's zmanim. Enclosures come in a variety of materials and finishes.

No. DigiZman boards hang in shuls, schools and hospitals, from Brooklyn to Miami Beach to Antwerp.

  • Can our members see the zmanim on their phones?
